Rotem Industries and BLI to Offer Sapphire Windows
and Domes to U.S. DoD Customers

June 26, 2006 NEW YORK - Rotem Industries of Israel and Boston Laser, Inc. of Binghamton, New York have agreed to jointly market sapphire windows and domes to DoD customers in the U.S.

Due to its excellent optical and mechanical properties sapphire is an ideal visible-midwave IR window material for military applications. It is also an ideal choice for transparent dome elements in high-speed missile systems.

Sapphire must be produced in single crystal form because of its anisotropic structure. Rotem Industries, in its 30 years of experience in manufacturing sapphire windows and domes has developed unique, efficient manufacturing methods. It is an approved manufacturer of Litening II windows, Arrow windows, Python 4 and 5 seeker's domes, European leading programs and more.

Mr. Dan Peer, the President of Rotem Industries, said that its unique experience and collaboration with BLI will make it possible to provide world-class products for U.S. warfighting.

Mr. Aharon Meytahl, the CEO of BLI, said that providing active products and systems such as lasers and laser markers, and essential passive elements such as sapphire windows and domes will mean simpler and more cost-effective service for airborne systems.

Rotem Industries is an advanced technical Israeli company, which in addition to crystal growing, specializes in counter-terrorism and radiation detection.

Boston Laser manufactures semiconductor lasers and laser systems for military applications in the U.S. and industrial applications in Japan. It makes more than 30,000 lasers each year. Being a successor to Polaroid Laser Division it has 20 years of combined experience in making lasers.
